Ludum Dare

Let's make a post in Anjin style:
  • There was a Ludum Dare challenge over the weekend, the theme being Evolution.
  • A Ludum Dare challenge is to write a game from scratch in 48 hours.
  • I just happened to create a new, gaming related twitter account last week, where everyone - including Notch! - was buzzing about this.
  • At first, because of the relatively low amount of spare time I usually have - that is, 6 hours on a whole weekend - I decided not to do it.
  • Then I changed my mind, and actually decided to spend it all on creating a game.
  • Surprisingly, it was enough. I did create a game. I call it E-Volution.
  • Obviously, 6 hours is not really enough to create a full fledged, polished, beautiful game. Still, you can play and win, which, I think, is the point.
  • To give you a small shock though: more that 1000 games were submitted in the end.
  • The main goal of the challenge was achieved: I feel extremely proud for being able to do this.
  • The lesser goal is still to be seen: It would be great to be known as an indie game dev.
  • And for those who are still reading this: Here is my entry, and here is the game.
  • ..
  • oh, btw..
  • ..
  • If I'd have pre-purchased GW2 instead of pre-ordering, this 6 hours would have been the amount I  could play with it in the headstart period.
